Accounting / Administrative Assistant - Part Time

Lorton Data has a great opportunity for the right individual. We are hiring for the part-time position of Accounting / Administrative Assistant, to assist the accounting department and provide general office support. The ideal candidate will be a friendly, conscientious, detail-oriented person who constantly strives to do accurate work. Position hours are 1-5PM, M-F (we may be able to be flexible on the work schedule; please email to inquire about a different schedule).

Responsibilities include:
  • Matches vendor invoices with purchase orders to verify pricing and approval of payment.
  • Enters vendor invoice information into accounting program and reviews for accuracy. Mails out all payments and files vendor invoices.
  • Creates customer invoices in accounting program and reviews for accuracy. Prints, mails, and files invoices. Performs credit card transactions.
  • Backs up accounts receivable.
  • Answers incoming telephone calls on the main line and welcomes on-site visitors.
  • Assists CEO and CFO with administrative details / duties.
  • Assists with mailing and shipping. Receives, sorts, and routes mail and packages.
  • Orders and maintains office supplies.
  • Performs other clerical duties as needed, such as filing, photocopying, collating, and shredding.
  • Provides company-wide support.
Education, experience, and skills required:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • One year experience working in an office setting.
  • Knowledge of basic accounting principles required.
  • Computer experience with spreadsheets and word processing software.
  • Must be detail-oriented and have familiarity with computers.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, pleasant personality, clear speaking voice.
  • Good organizational skills and the ability to deal with multiple priorities.
  • Must project a professional image on phone and in person.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Typing 30 wpm.
  • Preferred (not required): Formal accounting education. Previous bookkeeping or receptionist experience.

Database Marketing Analyst

Lorton Data is now hiring for the position of Database Marketing Analyst, who will analyze, reformat, update and enhance our clients’ marketing databases to increase the effectiveness of their marketing campaigns. This person will also act as the Lead Analyst in performing response analysis. The ideal candidate will be an analytical, independent “doer” who puts a premium on accuracy. If you have built a career as a Database Marketing Analyst and can juggle multiple projects while keeping an eye on the details, we would like to talk to you.

Responsibilities include:

  • Converts customer information to our system using a variety of computers, equipment and software.
  • Analyzes files and instructions, pinpoints potential problems, and suggests methods to counter their effects.
  • Performs complex data conversions.
  • Utilizes and modifies programs to manipulate data and increase database integrity. Prepares files and initiates the following processes: ZIP + 4®, postal presort, inkjet file creation, merge/purge, NCOALink®, and other data services.
  • Produces output per client specifications. Outputs include: standard files, inkjet files, labels, personalized laser letters, reports, or custom output.
  • Utilizes mapping software to increase the value of market analysis and customer profiles.
  • Designs and generates reports.
  • Acts as the Lead Analyst in performing response analysis and suggesting methods to increase the effectiveness of our clients’ marketing campaigns.
  • Communicates with project coordinators and clients regarding issues throughout the project, and provides updates to project coordinators concerning project progress.
  • Communicates with clients about project results.
  • Works with Sales department to develop new product and service offerings.

Skills and Education Required:

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in database marketing and response analysis
  • Experience with file manipulation (reformatting, sorting, merging, querying, reporting) and a variety of data types/structures
  • MS Windows experience
  • Independent learner
  • Problem-solving ability
  • Strong attention to detail
  • College degree required

Skills Desired (not required - we will train):

  • FoxPro or Dbase
  • SQL
  • Crystal Reports
  • Database management

Responsibilities Include:
  • Serves as a member of a small team developing and enhancing a variety of industry-transforming applications to support our customers' data services needs. These applications are typically used internally.

Sales Representative

Lorton Data is hiring for the key position of Sales Representative. As part of an ambitious growth plan we are looking for an experienced, successful Sales Representative to develop new business opportunities. Responsibilities include:

  • Initiate, build and close sales opportunities through contact with business, nonprofit, and government entities.
  • Work with Sales Manager to create sales strategies and develop sales goals and plans to meet corporate goals.

  • Make outbound calls to prospects to qualify leads and sell products and services.
