Telephone Preference Service (TPS)
- Fact: State legislation restricting telemarketers' access to potential customers is increasing at an alarming rate.
- Fact: More consumers than ever are requesting not to be called at home. Federal legislation requires telemarketers to remove the name of any individual that tells them they do not want to be called.
- Fact: Calling resentful, unresponsive consumers is a waste of precious marketing dollars and effort.
- Fact: The Direct Marketing Associations's (DMA) Privacy Promise to consumers requires all DMA members to use TPS on all consumer-marketing campaigns.
What is TPS?
TPS is the easy and cost-effective way to purge your calling lists of consumers who do not want to receive promotional calls at home. TPS is a residential file of individuals who have contacted The DMA and registered with TPS by providing their names, home addresses and home phone numbers. Consumers find out about the service through state and local consumer agencies and print and broadcast advertising. Once registered, they remain on the list for five years or until they move.
Consumers contact The DMA regularly to be added to the list. The file is 4.5 million names strong and growing.
Do Not Call Information
In addition to the DMA's TPS file, both individual state and national do not call files are available to you. Know your regulations and be sure you are in compliance with the no-call requirements for your business. For more information on...
