I need to withhold certain contacts from receiving my marketing communcations.

Removing unwanted contacts from your list is good business and saves you money.

You may wish to omit a select group of customers or house prospects from direct mail or email communication by building and maintaining a house suppression file. Reasons to exclude a contact from your communications include: a direct request from a customer or prospect, a bad debt or fraudulent status of a company, or you are targeting prospects only and need to suppress current customers. It’s good practice to maintain a field specifying the reason for the suppression.

All matches to house files are based on the criteria you specify. You may even choose to match against our vulgar words suppression file. Yes, we have that, too!

Below are our most popular suppression services.

Responsible marketers (like you) match their mailing lists against the Data and Marketing Association (DMA) Do Not Mail database prior to mailing. The Mail Preference division of the DMA compiles a list of people who do not want to receive advertising mail. A person must register with the DMA to be included in the list.

Each month, Lorton Data receives the DMA’s updated list. Matches are based on last name and address.

The National Do Not Call Registry includes registrations from both cell phones and land lines. The registry is for personal phone numbers only. Business-to-business phones and faxes are not covered. By law, companies are required to match their telemarketing list against the registry every 31 days to avoid calling any phone number on the registry.

Eliminating duplicate names on your file saves more than you may realize.

Wasted postage on duplicate mailings
Printing and production costs for additional mail pieces
Additional cost of list rental names for customers who exist on your file
Negative image presented to customers and prospects receiving multiple mail pieces

We offer the three most common matching options for duplicate elimination: one per address, one per household or one per person. We can also eliminate duplicates based on basic matches, such as by telephone, account or member number. In addition, we use highly complex matching algorithms for matching by institution or company.

Avoid the unfortunate and sensitive situation of mailing to deceased individuals. Prior to mailing, match your list against the Death Master File (DMF), compiled by the Social Security Administration.

Prison suppression includes state prisons, federal prisons and other correctional facilities. Your list is compared to over 10,000 correctional facilities. Matches are based on address.
